Your Cue recently had the honor of participating in the prestigious University Startup World Cup hosted by Venture Cup Denmark in Copenhagen.
The schedule for the week-long event was packed with opportunities to connect, learn, showcase our start-up, and compete to be named the top university start-up worldwide.
After an intense pitch competition with innovative healthcare start-ups from around the globe, we are thrilled to share that Your Cue emerged victorious, winning the health category!
The journey to this achievement was not easy. From uncertainties around securing business visas (Our first business visa) to making the trip to Denmark, to long hours refining our pitch, the Your Cue team showed grit and determination every step of the way.
The schedule for the week-long event was packed with opportunities to connect, learn, and showcase our start-up:
Monday - Welcome Day at Station: We received a warm welcome from Morten Ugelvig Andersen and networked with other start-ups during icebreaker activities. We also attended an insightful pitch workshop led by Simon Ringive of Venture Cup Denmark to refine our presentation.
The competition format consisted of semi-final pitch rounds with category judges, followed by the final round where category winners pitched to the VIP jury.
Tuesday - Semi-Finals at Maersk Tower: Each start-up had a 15 minute time slot to deliver a 4 minute pitch and 12 minutes of Q&A with the judges. We impressed the judges with our pitch for our vital sign monitoring system for all patients in hospitals and care homes.
Wednesday - TechBBQ and Finals at Lokomotivværksted: After enjoying TechBBQ's inspiring speakers, startup exhibits and networking, we pitched impromptu on the main stage at the finals, competing against the other category winners for the overall winner and a prize of $10,000. The audience at the startup pitch event was clearly smitten with Your Cue. Though we didn't take home the $10,000 grand prize as decided by the VIP jury, Your Cue was voted as the undisputed audience favourite.
The competition at Tech BBQ was followed with a party in the evening where pizzas and beers were sponsored by the Venture Cup Denmark team and all the competing start-ups got together to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and the experience of a global competition in the beautiful city of Denmark.
Winning the health category means we will now advance to represent Your Cue at the global growth stage finals in China later this year. We are honored by this opportunity to showcase Your Cue on an international platform.
